The short answer
An attested import is a compliance record whose dates came from a landlord-supplied spreadsheet. Tenaqo has stored those dates and made them visible in the product, but has not checked whether the underlying certificate or document actually exists, is correctly dated or is legally valid.
The landlord is attesting — confirming — that the dates are accurate. Tenaqo records that attestation and labels the record accordingly.
Why the label exists
When a landlord enters a compliance date directly in Tenaqo — for example, by uploading a certificate and entering the issue and expiry dates — that record is native. Tenaqo knows where the data came from.
When dates are imported from a spreadsheet, the source is different. The landlord may have copied them from a certificate, from an email or from memory. Tenaqo has no way to check independently. Presenting imported dates as if they were the same as native records would give a false impression of what Tenaqo has verified.
The attested-import label preserves that distinction. It tells you and any reader of your records exactly how that data arrived.
What Tenaqo does and does not verify
Tenaqo does: Record the dates you supply, display them in Compliance Safe and Command Centre, flag them as attested imports, and track expiry and renewal dates so you get alerts.
Tenaqo does not: Check that a certificate exists, verify that the date matches the physical document, confirm regulatory compliance, or make any determination about whether your property meets legal requirements.
This is the same limitation that applies to dates you enter manually. Tenaqo is an operational record-keeping tool, not a compliance inspector or legal adviser.
Where the label appears
- Compliance Safe — each imported record shows an 'Attested import' badge next to the status.
- Command Centre — action items for imported records that are due or overdue include the attested label.
- Attention Centre — the review count for attested imports is shown separately from native compliance items.
- Operating Calendar — compliance events from attested imports carry the label.
- Property compliance tab — the property-level compliance card distinguishes attested from native.
How to change an attested record to a native one
Once you have located and verified the underlying certificate, open the compliance record in Compliance Safe and update it with the correct details. If you upload a document and confirm the dates there, the record transitions from attested to native.
There is no bulk conversion. Records become native when you verify and update them individually.
